Doing Good to Everyone

Doing Good to Everyone

Friday

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
— Galatians 6:9-10 (ESV)
Notice how the passage ends. We are not to grow weary, and we are to do good to everyone, especially the household of faith. The scope is breathtakingly wide. Everyone. The neighbor next door, the stranger at the grocery store, the missionary on the other side of the world, the brother in the pew beside you.

The Christian life is not a private retreat, it is a public mission. And the gas in the tank is the gospel itself. Christ did good to us when we were His enemies. He gave Himself for us when we deserved nothing. Now, empowered by His Spirit, we extend that same goodness outward in ever-widening circles.

As you head into the weekend, ask the Lord for one specific opportunity today to do good to someone, and the eyes to see it when it comes.
