Saved To: A New Position & Future
Saved To: A New Position & Future

"And raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."
— Ephesians 2:6-7 (ESV)
— Ephesians 2:6-7 (ESV)
Paul makes an audacious claim: you are already seated in heavenly places. Not "will be someday" but "are right now." While your feet walk on earth, your position is secure in heaven. This isn't wishful thinking or poetic exaggeration—it's your spiritual reality in Christ.
Think about what it means to be seated. Standing suggests work in progress. Running implies effort. But sitting communicates rest, completion, and authority. Kings sit on thrones. Christ sat down at the Father's right hand because His saving work was finished. And somehow, mysteriously, we sit there with Him.
But Paul looks beyond the present to the ages to come. God's purpose in saving you extends into eternity. You are not just a recipient of grace but an exhibit of it. Throughout endless ages, God will display His kindness toward you as evidence of His character. Your salvation tells a story that will echo forever.
"Immeasurable riches" suggests a treasury without bottom. However much grace you've experienced, there's infinitely more. The kindness you'll know tomorrow exceeds today's. And the ages to come will only reveal more of what God delights to give.

1. How might your daily anxieties change if you truly believed you're already seated in heavenly places?
2. What does it mean to you that your story will be used as an exhibit of God's grace for eternity?
3. How does the promise of "immeasurable riches" still to come affect how you face today's challenges?

Father, my circumstances sometimes make me forget my position. When I feel defeated, remind me that I am seated with Christ. When I feel insignificant, remind me that my story matters to You forever. Give me eyes to see my life from heaven's perspective and courage to live accordingly. Amen.
