Submission as Worship

Submission as Worship

Monday

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
— Ephesians 6:1-3 (ESV)
Reflect:
The phrase "in the Lord" transforms ordinary obedience into an act of worship. When we submit to legitimate authority—whether as children to parents or in any other relationship—we are not merely following human rules. We are serving Christ Himself. This dignifies every act of humble submission. The world sees submission as weakness, but the Gospel reveals it as the pathway of Jesus. He submitted to the Father's will even unto death, and through that submission came the salvation of the world. Today, consider the areas where God has called you to submit. Rather than viewing these as burdens, can you see them as opportunities to worship?
Pray:
Lord Jesus, You submitted perfectly to the Father's will for my salvation. Help me to see my own acts of submission as worship offered to You. Where I have resisted or resented authority, give me a heart that honors You through humble obedience. Amen.
Apply:
Identify one relationship where you struggle to submit joyfully. This week, consciously offer your submission in that relationship as an act of worship to Christ.
