Go and Tell

Go and Tell

Friday

But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
— Mark 16:7-8 (ESV)

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

— Romans 10:14-15 (ESV)
The angel’s command was clear: “Go, tell.” The resurrection was never meant to be a private experience. It was always intended to be proclaimed. The women initially fled in fear and said nothing to anyone. But we know from the rest of the New Testament that they eventually found their voices—and their testimony changed the course of history. You may feel unqualified, afraid, or unsure of what to say. That is normal. The first witnesses of the resurrection felt the same way. But the message is too important to keep to ourselves. Someone in your life needs to hear that death has been defeated, that hope is alive, and that forgiveness is available. This weekend, look for one opportunity to share the hope of the empty tomb.
Reflection:
Who in your life needs to hear the good news of the resurrection? How will you share it?
Pray:
Holy Spirit, give me boldness and opportunity to share the hope of the risen Christ with someone who needs it. Amen.
