Not Meant to Go Alone
Not Meant to Go Alone
Monday
"Sopater the Berean, son of Pyrrhus, accompanied him; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and the Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus. These went on ahead and were waiting for us at Troas, but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days."
— Acts 20:4-6 (ESV)
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken."
— Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (ESV)

It's easy to skim a list of names. Sopater, Aristarchus, Secundus, Gaius, Timothy, Tychicus, Trophimus. But every name was a real person who left home, risked danger, and walked hundreds of miles because Jesus had captured their hearts. The greatest missionary of the early church was never a one-man show. He traveled with a team.
Ecclesiastes explains why. When one falls, another lifts him up. When the night is cold, companions keep each other warm. When the enemy attacks, two stand together, and three are stronger still. God wired us for this. Isolation feels safe, but it leaves us exposed. Many believers drift from faith not because they reject Jesus, but because they slowly disconnect from His people.
Today, consider who is roped to you on the climb. Who would notice if you stumbled? Whom would you notice? The Christian life is a team sport, and Jesus is the One who builds the team.

Reflect:
Who are two or three believers you could call if you fell this week? If no names come to mind, what step could you take to change that?

Pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You for not leaving me to walk alone. Show me the people You've placed beside me, and make me faithful to them. Amen.
