Comfort That Forgets God

Comfort That Forgets God

Monday

"Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to your husbands, 'Bring, that we may drink!' The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness that, behold, the days are coming upon you, when they shall take you away with hooks, even the last of you with fishhooks. And you shall go out through the breaches, every one straight ahead; and you shall be cast out into Harmon," declares the LORD.
— Amos 4:1-3 (ESV)
Reflect:
Comfort is not sinful, but comfort that no longer notices anyone else's need has gone wrong somewhere. Israel's wealth had made them blind to the poor right in front of them.
Pray:
Ask God to show you one place this week where comfort may have dulled your compassion. Ask Him to soften what has grown hard.
Today's Takeaway:
Blessing was always meant to flow outward, not just inward.
