Unstoppable

What began with roughly a hundred and twenty people praying in an upper room ended up reshaping the Roman Empire — and it never once depended on political power, cultural approval, or favorable circumstances. In this message, Pastor Greg takes a wide-angle view of the first seventeen chapters of Acts, tracing the single unbroken line that runs from the ascension of Jesus, through Pentecost, out past the martyrdom of Stephen, and all the way to a sermon preached among the philosophers of Athens. Acts 1:8 supplies the map — Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the end of the earth — and this message follows that map through persecution, prison doors, shipboard crossings, and the conversion of the church's fiercest enemy.

Along the way we look closely at the devotions that shaped the earliest church, at the moment God shattered the wall between Jew and Gentile in a Roman centurion's living room, and at the Jerusalem council that settled once and for all what a person must do to be saved. The answer given there is the answer still: we are justified by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. Whether you have read Acts a hundred times or have never opened it, this overview will give you a framework for the whole book and a clearer view of the crucified and risen Savior at the center of it.
