Complemented, Not Complicated
How does God use ordinary believers to shape extraordinary ministries? In this message from Acts 18:18–28, we follow the close of a missionary journey and the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the early church. We see a faithful partnership with Priscilla and Aquila, a mysterious vow that reveals a heart willing to become all things to all people for the sake of the gospel, and a servant of Christ who surrenders every plan with the simple words, "if God wills."
From there, the message travels to Antioch, where the disciples were first called Christians, and through Galatia and Phrygia, where believers were strengthened in their faith. Then we meet Apollos, an eloquent and fervent preacher from Alexandria who knew only the baptism of John. Through the gentle, private, and knowledgeable instruction of Priscilla and Aquila, Apollos came to understand the way of God more accurately and went on to greatly help those who through grace had believed.
Whether you are joining us live or catching up later, this message will encourage you to offer instruction with gentleness, receive correction with humility, and rejoice in the good news that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Discover how the local church was never intended to complicate your life, but to complement it.
