Plant Your Flag!
"As For Me and My House" is a message drawn from two passages of Scripture that, taken together, paint a remarkable picture of God's heart for whole households. In Joshua 24:15, an aging leader stakes a personal flag of allegiance for his family, refusing to drift with the surrounding culture and calling the people of Israel to a decisive choice for the Lord. In Acts 16:31-34, a trembling Philippian jailer cries out at midnight, "What must I do to be saved?" and within hours every member of his household has heard the gospel, believed, been baptized, and rejoiced. Across centuries and covenants, the same God is at work, raising up homes that serve Him.
In this sermon you will hear the call to plant your own flag of faith, no matter where the rest of your family currently stands. You will be reminded that every home serves something — schedule, screen, status, or Savior — and that the head of a household has been entrusted by God to lead the way. You will also be encouraged that one believer in a house is not an isolated witness but a lamp on a kitchen table, brightening every corner of the room. Most of all, you will be pointed to Jesus Christ crucified and risen, the only ground on which any faithful family has ever stood.
Whether you are a husband, wife, single parent, grandparent raising grandchildren, or a believer praying for a loved one who does not yet know the Lord, this message is for you. Take heart. The same God who shook a Philippian jail at midnight is still in the household-saving business today.
