Empowered By Resurrection Might

Empowered By Resurrection Might

Friday

"...that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places." — Ephesians 1:18-20 (ESV)
Paul's prayer reaches its climax with a staggering declaration: the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you right now. Not a lesser version. Not a diluted form. The very same resurrection power that rolled away the stone, that conquered death, that exalted Christ to the Father's right hand is directed "toward us who believe."

The Greek word for power here is dunamis, from which we get our English word "dynamite." But this is not destructive power; it is creative, transformative, life-giving power. It is the power that spoke galaxies into existence. It is the power that parted the Red Sea. It is the power that shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of flames, and called Lazarus from the tomb. And this explosive, universe-creating, death-defeating power is available to you.

What does this mean practically? It means you are not powerless against temptation. The same power that raised Christ can enable you to say no to sin. It means you are not helpless before your circumstances. The same power that conquered death can bring life to dead situations, dead relationships, dead dreams. It means you are not hopeless in your struggles. The same power that exalted Jesus can lift you from despair to victory.

Too often we face our battles in our own strength and wonder why we fail. We try harder, resolve more firmly, and white-knuckle our way through—only to collapse in exhaustion and defeat. But God has given us access to resurrection power! We don't have to manufacture victory; we receive it by faith. We don't have to earn power; we draw upon what has already been given. As we close this week, remember: you are blessed beyond measure, chosen before time, redeemed by blood, sealed by the Spirit, and empowered by resurrection might. Now walk in it.
1. In what specific area of your life do you most need to experience God's resurrection power right now?
2. How have you been trying to live the Christian life in your own strength rather than relying on the power God has made available?
3. Looking back over this week's devotions, which truth about your identity in Christ has impacted you most deeply? How will you live differently because of it?
Almighty God, I stand in awe that resurrection power is available to me. Forgive me for trying to live in my own strength. I surrender my weakness to Your might. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit. Let the power that raised Christ from the dead work in me today—conquering sin, transforming my character, and bringing life to every dead place. I am blessed beyond measure. Help me to live like it. For Your glory and praise, Amen.
